#Embracing equity

I know how hard it to start up with no money and slip through the loop holes of investment. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and I know you have a brilliant business to grow! At this event we aim to strengthen your pitching skills for future investment opportunities and give you the best chance to pitch to investors and win funding in the final.

Starting a business with little or nothing is so damn hard! I started with nothing, on my own, a single parent of two beautiful baby girls and suffocating financial responsibility. But… I am passionate about the service I offer and I had a dream to create a sustainable business I loved that would benefit others as well as support me and my children for life. It has been so hard to build and I have often felt like giving up. I am lucky to have a supportive network of friends and family around me and my drive and ambition to keep going, no matter what has paid off. It isn’t easy, it is often messy but I would advise anyone with a dream to be bold and go bravely towards your business or career goal; it is when we follow our heart and tap into our talent that we know can benefit others, that we thrive and succeed.

Celebrating International Women’s Day.

•The event is brought to you by Audrie Woodhouse, York & North Yorkshire Growth Hub, York St John University and YO1 radio to celebrate women in business on International Women’s Day.

•To apply you need to be a woman who is the owner or founder of a start-up business in the York and North Yorkshire area. If your application is successful, you’ll get the chance to pitch for angel investment of £500-£1000 to develop your business.

•All successful applicants will receive a free pitching workshop from Audrie Woodhouse. This session will be held the week prior to the pitch date.
