Reflecting on Embrace Equity

On International Women’s Day, I collaborated with Emma Rollason-Taylor to partner with York and North Yorkshire Growth Hub and York St John University Enterprise Centre to host the Embrace Equity Event.

The event gave female-founded businesses valuable speaking consultancy and coaching with myself before they pitched their businesses to two angel investors at the York Marriott Hotel for the opportunity to gain a £500-£1000 investment.

I have written before about my experience starting my business and how I understand how difficult it is to get investors when starting your business. So I know an opportunity like this would have been an invaluable help. In an article, Sue Jefferson, chair of York and North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership’s Business Board shared how “Treasury-commissioned research found for every £1 of venture capital investment, only 1p goes to female entrepreneurs”. With figures like this, it’s no surprise many female entrepreneurs lack confidence when launching their businesses! I wanted to use my experience and expertise as a speaking consultant and coach to help more women unlock their confidence to seize the opportunity of pitching for investment, and that’s exactly what this event did.

If any of these issues sound familiar to you, contact me to discuss if coaching could benefit you and your business.
